These questions are designed to help you look “behind the curtain” of our firm as you consider who to trust with your financial future.
Timm Financial was founded out of necessity for Fred Timm’s tax clients, who consistently sought trusted, ongoing financial guidance beyond just tax preparation. The firm was created to provide comprehensive, personalized financial planning built on long-term relationships and real results.
Yes. As fiduciaries, we are legally and ethically bound to always act in your best interest. We don’t push products. We recommend the same strategies we use in our personal accounts and with our own family. Our firm is built on integrity, transparency, and putting client interests first—always.
Our approach is comprehensive. We act as your central financial point of contact—coordinating across all aspects of your financial life. Every client with $250,000 or more in investable assets receives a detailed Financial Plan and a custom Financial Action Checklist that outlines exactly what needs to be done to reach your goals. We work closely with attorneys and other professionals to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Yes. Fred Timm is a CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) with a degree in Business Finance. Luke Timm, a Princeton graduate, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®), who spent years working in finance in NYC before joining the firm. Together, we study over 8,000 pages of financial, tax, and legal material annually and are mentored by top experts in the field. Our complementary backgrounds ensure you receive thoughtful, in-depth, and up-to-date planning.
We meet with financial planning clients at least twice a year. In between, we stay in touch through quarterly performance reports, ongoing newsletters that decode financial headlines, and client-only education events. You're also welcome to contact us anytime with questions.
Our advisory fee is a percentage that is billed quarterly and deducted directly from your accounts based on the value of your invested assets. Below is our fee structure:
You’ll see this fee clearly detailed in your statements. Most of the investment funds we use have internal expenses under 0.10%, which helps keep your overall costs far below industry averages. We believe a financial advisor should more than justify their fee through time saved, smarter tax strategies, and better financial outcomes.

We use Charles Schwab as our independent custodian. Schwab safeguards over $8 trillion in client assets and provides secure, transparent access to your accounts. You can log in and view your accounts anytime at www.schwaballiance.com. Schwab also provides all required tax reporting.
